Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the past five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from his teammate by a single point after his victory in Mexico City recently, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before the sprint shootout set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, trailing 36 points behind Norris, ended up in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he rotated at corner four soon after starting.
Tsunoda slid over the track edges before sliding over the run-off area, and was lucky to avoid just a slight brush of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the session, spinning around through the quick descending Mergulho turn before the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th place, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber in third, over half a second off Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
